General Manager - Hilton Franchise Hotel The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, financial results, guest satisfaction, Team Member engagement, and Hilton brand compliance of the hotel. The General Manager leads all hotel departments and ensures the property operates in accordance with Hilton franchise standards while maximizing revenue, controlling expenses, maintaining the physical asset, and delivering consistently high levels of guest service. Key Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and direction for daily hotel operations, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage or Breakfast Service, Maintenance/Engineering, Sales, Revenue Management, Human Resources, and Accounting functions. Ensure the hotel consistently complies with Hilton brand standards , operating procedures, service expectations, and Quality Assurance requirements. Prepare the hotel for Hilton Quality Assurance inspections and address any deficiencies, action plans, or brand-compliance concerns in a timely manner. Monitor guest-satisfaction performance, guest surveys, online reviews, service-recovery cases, and other Hilton guest-experience metrics. Maintain a strong focus on friendly, reliable, and consistent guest service and ensure Team Members understand and execute Hilton service expectations. Recruit, train, coach, schedule, supervise, and develop hotel Team Members and department leaders. Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on occupancy, business demand, productivity standards, and budgeted labor costs. Conduct regular staff and department-head meetings to review operating results, guest feedback, staffing, safety, sales opportunities, and upcoming business needs. Develop and manage the hotel's annual budget, operating forecasts, payroll, departmental expenses, capital needs, and profitability targets. Review hotel P&L statements , revenue reports, payroll reports, accounts payable, purchasing, inventory, and departmental expenses. Work with ownership and Revenue Management to maximize occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR), RevPAR, RevPAR Index, market penetration, and overall profitability . Review STR or comparable competitive-market reports and analyze hotel performance against the competitive set. Monitor transient, corporate, group, negotiated, and local-account business and identify opportunities to increase hotel revenue. Work closely with Sales to develop corporate accounts, group business, local partnerships, negotiated-rate accounts, and community relationships. Monitor room inventory, rate strategy, booking pace, market demand, compression dates, and revenue opportunities. Maintain familiarity with Hilton hotel-management and property systems used by the property, including applicable Hilton platforms such as OnQ and/or PEP , Hilton Honors systems, reservation systems, and operational reporting tools. Ensure proper execution of Hilton Honors benefits, member recognition, upgrades where applicable, service recovery, and guest-profile procedures. Oversee applicable food-service or breakfast operations, including food quality, sanitation, presentation, inventory, purchasing, staffing, waste control, and Hilton brand standards. Ensure guest rooms and public areas meet Hilton cleanliness, maintenance, presentation, and brand-condition requirements. Oversee preventive maintenance programs, work orders, vendor relationships, life-safety systems, elevators, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, pools, fitness areas, and other property equipment as applicable. Identify capital expenditure needs and coordinate repairs, replacements, renovations, and Property Improvement Plan requirements with ownership. Maintain compliance with fire, health, safety, security, accessibility, OSHA, local licensing, emergency-preparedness, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain proper cash-handling, purchasing, inventory, credit-card, deposit, and internal-control procedures. Review and approve vendor invoices, purchase orders, payroll information, departmental purchases, and operating expenses according to ownership policies. Handle escalated guest complaints and implement appropriate service recovery while protecting guest loyalty and the hotel's reputation. Review Google and other online guest reviews and ensure appropriate operational follow-up to recurring guest concerns. Maintain strong communication with hotel ownership, Hilton representatives, management companies, vendors, corporate clients, local organizations, and community partners. Prepare regular ownership reports covering revenue, occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, expenses, labor, profitability, guest satisfaction, maintenance issues, sales activity, and operational priorities. Establish and enforce hotel policies, procedures, accountability standards, and performance expectations. Maintain high Team Member engagement and create a professional, positive, service-oriented workplace culture. Participate in Hilton training programs, brand initiatives, operational audits, required certifications, and management-development programs. Maintain readiness for emergencies and provide leadership during guest incidents, system outages, weather events, maintenance emergencies, staffing shortages, or other operational disruptions. Continuously identify opportunities to improve guest satisfaction, labor productivity, operational efficiency, market share, revenue, and hotel profitability. The General Manager should be highly visible throughout the hotel, actively engage with guests and Team Members, respond quickly to operational issues, and maintain strong communication with ownership and Hilton representatives. Typical Qualifications Prior hotel-management experience, preferably as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Director of Operations, Operations Manager, or Department Head. Hilton or comparable major-brand hotel experience preferred. Strong understanding of hotel operations, guest service, housekeeping, maintenance, sales, revenue management, and financial controls. Experience reviewing P&L statements, hotel budgets, forecasts, STR reports, payroll, operating expenses, and revenue-management reports. Familiarity with Hilton systems such as OnQ and/or PEP is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to recruit, coach, motivate, and hold Team Members accountable. Ability to manage multiple departments and priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment. Flexibility to work based on hotel business demands and respond to emergencies or operational issues outside normal business hours when necessary.
