Job Description

Position Summary The Hotel General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the property, including sales, guest satisfaction, team leadership, operational standards, labor management, and financial results. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring an entrepreneurial, sales-focused manager who can lead a lean hotel team, build local business relationships, and assist with daily operations when needed. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop local business through community networking, account relationships, extended-stay outreach, and property-level sales activities.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and lead a team of approximately 6-12 employees.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, urgency, and ownership.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing coverage and provide hands-on operational support during absences or periods of increased business demand.
  • Ensure guestrooms, public areas, and hotel facilities consistently meet cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally and respond appropriately to reviews and feedback.
  • Oversee front desk, housekeeping, laundry, cash-handling, administrative, safety, and security procedures.
  • Ensure required checklists, reports, audits, and operational deadlines are completed accurately and on time.
  • Manage labor and operating expenses in alignment with budget and business needs.
  • Monitor occupancy, average daily rate, revenue, and market conditions, implementing strategies to improve property performance.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable policies, brand standards, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties consistent with property operations and leadership responsibilities. Required Qualifications
  • At least one year of sales experience in hospitality, retail, extended-stay lodging, or a similar environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate revenue and build productive community or business relationships.
  • Working knowledge of hotel operations, labor management, financial controls, and operational execution.
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computers, hospitality systems, and common reporting tools.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on, action-oriented approach.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in limited-service, extended-stay, or lean-staffed hotel operations.
  • Experience managing labor budgets and improving property-level financial results.
  • Proven success with local sales, community outreach, or account development.
Physical Requirements The position requires prolonged standing and walking and the ability to bend, kneel, squat, and twist. The employee must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The role may require hands-on assistance with housekeeping, laundry, front desk, or other property operations. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
