This is more than an opportunity to join an established operation. You will help build the team, establish service standards, prepare employees for opening, and shape the guest experience from the very beginning. We are seeking a leader who will work side by side with the Front Office team, remain actively involved in daily operations, and collaborate closely with Housekeeping, Engineering, Food and Beverage, Security, Sales, Membership, and every other area of the hotel. At El Tropicano, we are one hotel—not a collection of separate departments. Our leaders are expected to communicate openly, support one another, and step across departmental lines when necessary to care for our guests and fellow employees. The Assistant Front Office Manager will support the daily leadership of the Front Desk, Guest Services, Night Audit, and related guest-facing functions. This leader will work closely with the Front Office Manager and Rooms leadership to create a polished, welcoming, and highly responsive guest experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Help recruit, train, coach, and prepare the Front Office team for the hotel's opening Work alongside Front Office employees and provide visible, hands-on leadership throughout each shift Support daily Front Desk, Guest Services, and Night Audit operations Step into operational roles when needed to support the team and care for our guests Model warm, confident, and personalized guest service Ensure guest concerns are handled promptly, thoughtfully, and through completion Empower employees to take ownership of the entire guest experience Help establish departmental procedures, checklists, and service standards Monitor arrivals, departures, room inventory, special requests, VIPs, and member needs Build strong working relationships across all areas of the hotel Communicate proactively with Housekeeping, Engineering, Reservations, Security, Food and Beverage, Sales, Membership, and other teams Assist other departments when hotel or guest needs require additional support Help remove departmental barriers by sharing information, resources, and responsibility Support accurate cash handling, shift reconciliation, reporting, and system procedures Help manage scheduling and staffing based on business levels Provide ongoing coaching, recognition, and accountability Participate in preopening training, simulations, inspections, and opening-readiness activities
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Previous hotel Front Office leadership experience Experience in an upscale, luxury, boutique, or full-service hotel environment preferred Experience opening or repositioning a hotel is helpful but not required A hands-on leader who is comfortable working beside the team A collaborative mindset and willingness to support the entire hotel—not only the Front Office Strong guest-recovery and problem-solving skills A leadership style that is supportive, accountable, flexible, and highly visible Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment Experience with hotel property-management systems; Opera experience is strongly preferred Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays A genuine desire to develop employees and create memorable guest experiences
