POSITION SUMMARY

The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting the cleaning team to ensure all assigned areas are cleaned safely, efficiently, and according to company standards. This position oversees daily cleaning operations, assigns employee responsibilities, conducts quality inspections, manages supplies and equipment, and addresses employee or customer concerns. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to lead a team while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise, lead, and support cleaning staff during assigned shifts. Create and communicate daily cleaning assignments. Ensure employees report to work on time and are properly assigned. Inspect completed work to ensure company quality standards are met. Identify areas requiring additional cleaning or corrective action. Train employees on proper cleaning methods, equipment, chemicals, and safety procedures. Monitor employee performance and provide coaching when needed. Address attendance, performance, and workplace issues according to company policies. Respond promptly and professionally to customer or management concerns. Ensure restrooms, offices, common areas, floors, trash areas, and other assigned spaces are properly maintained. Monitor inventory and request cleaning supplies when needed. Ensure cleaning equipment is used properly and maintained in good condition. Maintain cleaning checklists, inspection reports, and other required documentation. Report maintenance, safety, damage, or security concerns to the appropriate manager. Ensure employees use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Assist with cleaning duties when staffing or workload requires. Help manage call-offs, schedule changes, and coverage needs. Maintain professional communication with employees, customers, and management. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Cleaning Supervisor may be responsible for: Directing daily work assignments. Monitoring employee productivity and work quality. Training and onboarding new employees. Conducting routine inspections. Providing performance feedback. Communicating staffing concerns to management. Helping enforce company policies and procedures. Supporting a positive and professional work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Previous cleaning, janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or related experience. Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to handle customer and employee concerns professionally. Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures. Preferred 1-3 years of supervisory or lead experience. Experience supervising a commercial cleaning team. Experience with inspections and quality-control checklists. Experience training cleaning employees. Familiarity with workplace safety requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The position may require the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs. Lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment. Push and pull cleaning carts and equipment. Perform repetitive cleaning activities. Work around cleaning chemicals while following required safety procedures. Wear required PPE. Perform cleaning duties when necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Cleaning Supervisor may work in commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, educational, hospitality, or other facilities depending on company operations.

The position may involve:

Exposure to cleaning chemicals. Wet or slippery floors. Dust, dirt, and waste materials. Working indoors and/or outdoors. Working independently or with a team. Evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday work depending on the assigned schedule.
