Alachua, FL Reports to: General Manager / Property Owner Job Summary The Head Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department. This includes supervising staff, managing inventory, and ensuring all guest rooms and common areas are cleaned to the highest standards. You will act as the "final eye" for quality control, ensuring that every guest enters a room that feels fresh, safe, and welcoming. Core Responsibilities 1. Staff Supervision & Training Directly supervise housekeeping and laundry staff, including scheduling and performance evaluations. Train new hires on cleaning techniques, chemical safety, and property-specific SOPs. Foster a positive team environment to maintain high morale and low turnover. 2. Quality Assurance & Inspections Conduct daily inspections of all "ready" rooms to ensure they meet cleanliness and maintenance standards. Ensure common areas (lobby, breakfast area, corridors) are pristine at all times. Identify and report maintenance issues (leaks, broken fixtures, burnt-out bulbs) immediately. 3. Inventory & Cost Control Maintain stock levels of linens, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities. Conduct monthly inventory counts and coordinate with the Manager for ordering. Monitor chemical usage to prevent waste and ensure safety compliance (SDS sheets). 4. Operations & Communication Coordinate with the Front Desk to prioritize room cleaning based on arrivals and departures. Manage the laundry workflow to ensure a steady supply of clean linens and towels. Handle guest requests or complaints regarding room cleanliness with professionalism and speed.
Requirements & Qualifications Experience:
Minimum 2 years of housekeeping experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
Physical Ability:
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs for extended periods.
Availability:
Must be able to work weekends and holidays, as these are peak times for the motel.
Skills:
Strong eye for detail, basic computer skills for scheduling/inventory, and excellent communication skills.
Language:
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a significant plus in the Florida market.
Pay:
From $17.00 per hour
