A Housekeeping or Environmental Services Supervisor supervises the staff that provide cleaning and housekeeping services, primarily for rooms and bathrooms in hotels and hospitals. May also work in office buildings, colleges, other institutions or private residences with a large housekeeping staff.
The right candidate will ensure the facilities' equipment and utilities are maintained in good working order and facility grounds are properly maintained in accordance with facility policies, state and federal regulations.
Essential Responsibilities:
Schedule and oversee the repair and maintenance of machinery, tools, equipment, and facility systems to ensure efficient operations. Direct and participate in the maintenance of utility systems, including heating, steam, electrical, gas, air, plumbing, and HVAC systems, to ensure uninterrupted service. Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime. Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and workplace safety. Order and maintain an adequate inventory of tools, equipment, parts, and maintenance supplies. Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and other departments regarding equipment upgrades, modifications, and maintenance projects. Ensure the facility grounds are clean, attractive, and well maintained. Participate in the facility's Performance Improvement Program. Lead the facility's Safety Committee, including conducting meetings and maintaining meeting minutes. Participate in emergency maintenance situations and serve on a 24-hour on-call rotation as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of building codes, facility maintenance practices, and regulations governing plant operations. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Understanding of OSHA regulations and other workplace safety requirements. Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop maintenance staff. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. High Pressure Boiler Operator License required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in facility maintenance, housekeeping, environmental services, or a related field. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate. Healthcare maintenance experience (nursing home, hospital, or assisted living) preferred but not required. Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or general building maintenance. Experience with inventory management and ordering supplies is a plus. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods. Must be available for weekends, holidays, emergency situations, and 24-hour on-call responsibilities as needed. Ability to communicate effectively, maintain regular attendance, and pass all required background and health screenings.
