Principals Position Overview The Principals seek an experienced, polished, and highly trusted Executive Housekeeper / Household Manager to oversee the daily care, cleanliness, organization, and smooth operation of an 9,000-square-foot private residence in suburban Chicago. This hands-on role requires a refined housekeeping professional with strong experience in detailed cleaning, laundry, ironing, steaming, wardrobe care, household organization, and vendor coordination. The ideal candidate is proactive, discreet, organized, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. The highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and household care are expected at all times. The Executive Housekeeper / Household Manager will follow the established Housekeeping Plan and ensure the residence is consistently maintained, organized, secure, and ready for the Principals' use. Household Arrangement The Principals reside primarily in Florida and are typically in Chicago approximately one week per month. One adult son currently resides on the property, and the household requires attentive care whether the Principals are in residence or traveling. When the Principals are in Chicago, the role emphasizes daily service, detailed cleaning, laundry, steaming, wardrobe care, errands, and responsiveness to household needs. When the Principals are traveling, the role focuses on maintaining the home, completing scheduled housekeeping and household management projects, coordinating vendors, and ensuring the property remains clean, organized, secure, and well cared for. Confidentiality & Privacy Discretion, trustworthiness, and respect for privacy are essential. The successful candidate must maintain strict confidentiality regarding the Principals, their family, guests, household operations, and all private affairs. The candidate must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement and complete a thorough background check. Pet & Outdoor Animal Care
  • Provide occasional care for small dogs, including feeding and outside breaks, when the Principals are in town.
  • Be willing to stay at the property for pet care when the Principals travel on vacation. This is expected approximately one or two times per year.
  • Provide daily outdoor care for animals filling bird and squirrel feeders as needed. Qualifications The successful candidate will bring:
  • Previous experience working in a private household; private household experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of professional cleaning methods, products, tools, and equipment.
  • Experience with laundry, ironing, steaming, luxury fabrics, high-end clothing care, and wardrobe organization.
  • Willingness to learn and properly use the LauraStar ironing system/equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, time management, and follow-through.
  • A proactive, self-directed work style with the ability to work independently and take ownership of the home.
  • Professionalism, discretion, integrity, honesty, adaptability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Clear written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Vendor management and coordination ability.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Willingness to complete a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Physical Demands This hands-on position requires regular movement throughout the residence and property.   • Reach overhead and work in various positions, including standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Lift, pull, push, and carry materials, laundry, cleaning supplies, equipment, and small furniture as needed.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the assigned workday. Essential DutiesDaily Responsibilities
  • Maintain the residence according to the established Housekeeping Plan, including daily cleaning and scheduled weekly zone cleaning.
  • Perform laundry, ironing, steaming, dry-cleaning management, clothing care, valet support, and closet organization.
  • Use appropriate products, tools, and methods for fine household surfaces, fabrics, furnishings, and valuables.
  • Care for household appliances, rugs, carpeting, furniture, draperies, linens, fine silver, china, service utensils, and dining ware.
  • Keep laundry areas, linen closets, clothing closets, and household storage spaces clean and organized.
  • Maintain the exterior appearance of the property, including straightening outdoor furniture and filling bird and squirrel feeders.
  • Provide care for small dogs when the Principals are in town and assist with outdoor animal care as needed.
  • Answer the door, retrieve mail, receive packages, and run errands on behalf of the Principals as needed. Weekly & Project Responsibilities
  • Complete scheduled detail, seasonal, and project cleaning.
  • Manage outgoing and incoming dry cleaning.
  • Maintain rugs, carpets, and furniture, including appropriate stain treatment and care.
  • Organize and oversee larger cleaning projects as scheduled.
  • Maintain inventory of household cleaning products, tools, linens, toiletries, household goods, and equipment.
  • Inventory and stock cleaning products and household goods as needed.
  • Report maintenance concerns and help ensure household equipment, furniture, and furnishings remain in good working order.
  • Support travel preparation and return, including packing, unpacking, steaming clothing, and preparing clothing items as needed. Household Management Responsibilities
  • Meet, communicate with, and oversee service vendors working on the property.
  • Coordinate vendor work while protecting the privacy, safety, security, and standards of the residence.
  • Stock supplies, maintain inventories, and help ensure the home is prepared for the Principals' arrival and comfort.
  • Monitor the property with a caretaking mindset while the Principals are traveling.
  • Perform additional household tasks as requested by the Principals.
Work Schedule Typical schedule when the Principals are in
Chicago:
Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Typical schedule when the Principals are traveling: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional or adjusted hours may occasionally be requested based on household needs, travel schedules, pet care, vendor coordination, or special projects. Pay:
$120,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
