Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Executive Housekeeper / Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping department. This position is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the hotel, daily housekeeping operations, room inspections, scheduling, inventory control, staff training, productivity, and maintaining hotel cleanliness standards. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can hold the team accountable while also working alongside employees when operational needs require it. English/Spanish bilingual ability is a strong plus , as it can help with training, communication, and day-to-day management of the housekeeping team. Key Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the housekeeping department. Supervise, train, coach, and support housekeepers, laundry attendants, and housemen. Prepare daily housekeeping assignments based on occupancy, departures, stayovers, staffing, and hotel needs. Inspect guest rooms to ensure they meet hotel cleanliness and quality standards before being released. Inspect hallways, housekeeping closets, public areas, laundry areas, and other assigned spaces. Ensure all rooms are cleaned and released in a timely manner. Monitor housekeeping productivity and ensure workloads are distributed fairly and efficiently. Coordinate closely with the Front Desk regarding room status, early arrivals, late checkouts, room changes, and priority rooms. Communicate maintenance issues immediately and follow up to ensure problems are corrected. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of linens, towels, guest supplies, chemicals, and housekeeping supplies. Monitor linen usage, loss, damage, and replacement needs. Maintain organized housekeeping closets, storage areas, and laundry facilities. Prepare employee schedules according to occupancy and business needs while controlling labor costs. Monitor attendance, tardiness, call-offs, and employee performance. Train new employees on proper room-cleaning procedures, safety practices, hotel standards, and productivity expectations. Provide ongoing coaching and retraining when standards are not being met. Document performance or attendance issues and communicate concerns to management. Ensure housekeeping equipment and supplies are properly used and maintained. Maintain proper chemical handling, labeling, storage, and safety procedures. Help ensure lost-and-found procedures are followed correctly. Respond professionally to guest cleanliness concerns and work with management to resolve issues promptly. Conduct periodic deep-cleaning and preventative-cleaning projects. Assist with cleaning rooms, stripping rooms, laundry, or other housekeeping duties when necessary to support the operation. Participate in hiring and evaluating housekeeping employees. Work closely with hotel management to continuously improve cleanliness, efficiency, guest satisfaction, and employee performance. Perform other duties reasonably assigned by hotel management. Leadership Expectations The Head Housekeeper is expected to lead by example . This position requires someone who is comfortable setting expectations, following up, correcting problems, and holding employees accountable while maintaining a professional and respectful working environment. The successful candidate should be able to identify operational problems and take initiative to correct them rather than waiting for management to address every issue. Qualifications Previous hotel housekeeping experience strongly preferred. Previous Head Housekeeper, Executive Housekeeper, Housekeeping Supervisor, or similar leadership experience preferred . Strong understanding of hotel room-cleaning and inspection standards. Ability to manage and motivate a housekeeping team. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to create daily assignments and manage staffing based on occupancy. Ability to maintain inventory and control housekeeping supplies. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation. Comfortable using basic hotel systems, email, and mobile applications as required. Must be able to work independently and make operational decisions when necessary. Language English required for effective communication with management and guests. Spanish-speaking or bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Bilingual ability is considered a valuable bonus for communicating with, training, and supporting housekeeping team members. Physical Requirements This is a hands-on hospitality management position.
Candidates must be able to:
Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, reach, kneel, push, and pull as required. Push housekeeping carts and move supplies. Lift approximately 40-50 lbs. when necessary. Work throughout guest rooms, hallways, laundry areas, and other areas of the hotel. Schedule This is a hotel operations position and requires schedule flexibility based on occupancy and staffing. Weekend and holiday availability is required as business needs dictate. The Head Housekeeper is expected to ensure the department is properly staffed and operating effectively during high-occupancy and heavy-checkout periods. Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
