Assistant Housekeeping Manager Job Summary At DoubleTree by Hilton South Bend, we believe exceptional guest experiences begin with a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager supports the Executive Housekeeper in overseeing the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces consistently meet Hilton brand standards. This leadership role assists with supervising housekeeping team members, conducting room inspections, coordinating daily operations, maintaining inventory, supporting staff training, and delivering outstanding guest service. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about leading a team committed to excellence. Qualifications Education & Experience Minimum of two (2) years of progressive housekeeping experience in a hotel or hospitality environment. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality education is a plus. Experience with hotel property management systems and Microsoft Office preferred. Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleaning standards, and safety practices. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout an entire shift. Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as business demands require. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to resolve guest concerns professionally and effectively. Basic understanding of labor scheduling, inventory management, and departmental budgets. Supervise Room Attendants, Housepersons, and Laundry staff to ensure cleanliness, productivity, and quality standards are achieved. Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure compliance with Hilton brand standards. Assist with training, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of housekeeping team members. Prepare daily work assignments and assist with scheduling based on occupancy and business needs. Ensure timely cleaning of guest rooms and public spaces while maintaining productivity goals. Monitor room status and communicate effectively with the Front Office to ensure room availability. Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and service recovery opportunities. Assist with inventory management and ordering of housekeeping supplies, linens, and guest amenities. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, chemical handling guidelines, and OSHA standards. Maintain proper Lost & Found procedures and key control practices. Coordinate maintenance issues with the Engineering Department and follow up to ensure completion. Assist with payroll review, attendance monitoring, and labor productivity. Support hiring, onboarding, training, and employee engagement initiatives. Help coordinate operations during high occupancy periods, group arrivals, and special events. Foster a positive work environment built on teamwork, accountability, and exceptional guest service. Perform Manager-on-Duty responsibilities as assigned.
