Job Description

ROLE Responsible for managing housekeeping staff and controlling the activities of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments to ensure our Guest Rooms, Public Areas, Employee Areas and linens meet the highest standards of cleanliness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Interview, hire, train and schedule all Housekeeping and Laundry Employees. This including arranging back -up plans for unexpected absences. Monitor each Room Attendant's daily progress and inspect completed rooms to ensure all standards have been met and that public areas are always maintained and in a spotless condition. Develop daily production schedules, assess priorities for each type of linen that needs to be laundered, assigning staff appropriately. Provide a "hands on" management of the day to day operations by establishing and controlling planned cleaning scheduled; working closely with front desk to ensure that guest accommodations are ready in a timely manner. This includes cleaning rooms when needed to ensure actual room status matches the PMS. Coordinate work orders to ensure work is completed. Monitor employee uniforms to ensure dress code standards are always being met. Resolve guest and staff complaints with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible. Collaborate harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and the GM. Maintain all PARs and inventories and issue purchase orders as required. Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and energize the team to minimize employee turn-over, ability to analyze and implement solutions, ability to balance between accountability and recognition, service and quality oriented. Conduct Performance Evaluations, discipline staff and complete change forms when needed. Work closely with contract companies to ensure quality product. Establish detailed cleaning and preventative maintenance programs to preserve appearance and life of all furniture, fixtures and equipment. Ensure equipment is properly maintained. Take action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well-being of hotel guests and employees. Respond swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation. This includes completing an incident report to document any injuries that occurred in the workplace and properly communicating to the GM in a timely fashion. Assist the GM in processing payroll for housekeeping and laundry employees. Ensure financial goals of the department are being met. This includes monitoring and controlling labor expenses and other departmental expenses such as uniforms, linens, guest supplies, cleaning supplies and contract services.
