Job Summary The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operation of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, guest service, colleague engagement, and operational efficiency. This position provides leadership and support to Housekeeping Supervisors and the housekeeping team while partnering closely with hotel leadership and other departments to deliver a seamless, exceptional guest experience. Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Development Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the Housekeeping team while fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment. Provide direction and support to Housekeeping Supervisors and hold them accountable for daily operations, team performance, and service standards. Serve as a role model for professionalism, hospitality, teamwork, and appropriate workplace behaviors. Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training Housekeeping colleagues and Supervisors. Conduct orientation and ongoing training covering company policies, operating procedures, OSHA standards, guest satisfaction, Forbes standards, cleaning procedures, and proper equipment use. Provide ongoing coaching, counseling, feedback, and professional development opportunities. Conduct regular performance discussions and address performance or attendance concerns promptly and appropriately. Create and manage weekly Housekeeping schedules based on occupancy, business needs, staffing requirements, and labor targets. Oversee timekeeping and payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ensure appropriate staffing and coverage during peak periods, call-outs, special events, and high-occupancy periods. Promote colleague engagement and advocate for the Housekeeping team while maintaining a strong focus on guest satisfaction. Housekeeping Operations Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Housekeeping Department and ensure established standards and procedures are consistently followed. Establish, communicate, and maintain housekeeping standards and operating procedures in compliance with OSHA, health, safety, and hotel requirements. Provide oversight and direction to Housekeeping Supervisors to ensure efficient daily operations and consistent execution of department standards. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, corridors, elevators, foyers, laundry areas, restrooms, and public spaces. Perform quality assurance inspections, identify trends and deficiencies, and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure vacant and inspected rooms are accurately updated and communicated to the Front Office and other appropriate departments. Monitor guest feedback and investigate housekeeping-related complaints, taking corrective action and following through to resolution. Partner with Front Office, Engineering, Food & Beverage, and other departments to maintain effective communication and a cohesive hotel operation. Oversee housekeeping inventory, including purchasing, receiving, storage, distribution, and reordering of supplies and equipment. Monitor department expenses, labor utilization, productivity, and operational efficiency. Assist with the development and management of the Housekeeping Department budget and departmental goals. Maintain accurate records, including work assignments, inspections, personnel actions, timekeeping, inventory, and departmental reports. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, service quality, and the overall colleague and guest experience. Ensure proper handling and documentation of lost and found items in accordance with hotel policies. Ensure housekeeping equipment is properly maintained and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns. Ensure the department is prepared to support VIP arrivals, special events, high-occupancy periods, and other operational needs. Leadership & Guest Experience Maintain a visible, hands-on presence throughout the hotel and actively support the Housekeeping team during daily operations. Set the tone for a culture of exceptional hospitality, accountability, teamwork, and attention to detail. Ensure guest rooms and public areas consistently meet or exceed hotel cleanliness and presentation standards. Respond to guest and colleague concerns with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment. Anticipate operational challenges and proactively develop solutions to prevent service issues. Continuously evaluate Housekeeping operations and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and guest satisfaction. Attend and actively participate in hotel leadership and staff meetings, representing the Housekeeping Department and advocating for both the guest and colleague experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and email. Knowledge of hotel housekeeping systems and/or property management systems preferred. Qualifications 2-4 years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience in a hotel environment. Previous experience managing or overseeing Housekeeping Supervisors preferred. Luxury or upscale hotel experience preferred. Demonstrated experience leading a team and managing day-to-day housekeeping operations. Experience managing schedules, payroll, inventory, staffing levels, and departmental priorities. Ability to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24-hour hotel operation, including weekends and holidays. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, stand, and walk throughout the shift. Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards. Maintain regular attendance in accordance with hotel needs. Ability to attend required hotel meetings and training. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive guest and colleague information.
Pay:
