The Assistant Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of/and works with housekeeping associates engaged in housekeeping activities. In the absence of the Assistant Director of Environmental Services, the Executive Housekeeper takes charge of the shift; trains personnel and demonstrates new cleaning techniques and equipment; takes periodic inventories, makes quality assurance inspections of work, oversees storeroom and maintenance of equipment; and performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.

Principal Accountabilities:

% Of Time Spent 1. Supervises housekeepers assigned to hospital and medical office buildings to include preparation of work assignments, coordination of scheduling, and evaluation of work performance.

Supervisory observation, required documentation, and as reported by others. (15%) 2. Cleans assigned areas and has working knowledge of various cleaning chemicals and solutions, prepares cleaning solutions, maintains and distributes required supplies in assigned areas. Performs major floor refinishing or carpet restoration using prescribed methods.

Supervisory observation and as reported by others. (25%) 3. Operates and maintains equipment as necessary for cleaning assigned area and maintaining a safe environment. Performs routine inspections of electrical equipment used by housekeepers and either makes on-the-spot corrections or locks out/tags out dangerous equipment according to policy/procedures.

Assigns tasks for designated work group as delegated by Assistant Executive Housekeeper and oversees the completion of the work group's assignments on a routine basis. Follows up on complaints regarding poor service in a timely manner 100% of the time.

Initiates disciplinary action for infractions of work rules, policy or procedure up to and including recommendation to Manager or Assistant Exececutive Housekeeper for sending employee off shift per established department and Hospital guidelines. Provides verbal input into evaluation of staff.

Works on special projects and committees at the request of Manager. Maintains professional growth and development through education programs, trade journals, etc.

Employee is exposed to slippery floors, moderate noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials and waste. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or development duties.
