We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Executive Housekeeper to lead the housekeeping operation of a full-service hotel. This position is ideal for a leader who takes pride in building a strong team, creating an organized and accountable department, and maintaining exceptional standards throughout the property. The Executive Housekeeper will be a visible presence in the operation—working alongside the team when needed, responding to challenges in real time, and ensuring employees have the training, supplies, communication, and leadership necessary to succeed. We are looking for someone who takes full ownership of their department and understands that leadership extends beyond managing from an office. This leader will oversee the cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and presentation of guest rooms, public areas, laundry operations, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces. The successful candidate will balance operational excellence with genuine care for both our guests and the housekeeping team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide hands-on leadership and daily oversight of all housekeeping and laundry operations. Maintain a visible presence throughout the department and work alongside the team when operational needs require additional support. Recruit, train, develop, motivate, and retain a dependable, high-performing housekeeping team. Establish clear expectations and hold leaders and team members accountable in a fair, consistent, and respectful manner. Plan daily assignments based on occupancy, departures, stayovers, special requests, staffing levels, and business needs. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, corridors, linen areas, laundry facilities, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces. Ensure rooms and public areas consistently meet the hotel's cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and presentation standards. Monitor room productivity, labor usage, overtime, payroll, and departmental scheduling. Develop cleaning schedules, deep-cleaning programs, preventive-maintenance reporting procedures, and quality-control processes. Manage inventories of linens, guest supplies, uniforms, cleaning chemicals, and housekeeping equipment. Maintain appropriate par levels while controlling waste, loss, damage, and unnecessary expenses. Participate in departmental budgeting, forecasting, expense management, purchasing, cost analysis, and cost-saving initiatives. Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety requirements and established procedures. Partner closely with Front Office, Engineering, People & Purpose, and other hotel departments to resolve room discrepancies, maintenance concerns, and guest requests. Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns related to cleanliness, room readiness, or housekeeping service. Lead daily meetings and maintain clear communication across shifts. Address attendance, performance, conduct, and training concerns promptly and appropriately. Maintain accurate departmental reports, inspection records, inventories, schedules, and other required documentation. Promote a team environment where employees feel respected, supported, prepared, and accountable. Serve as Manager on Duty or assist with hotel operations when assigned. Perform other duties as needed to support the successful operation of the hotel. Leadership Expectations Our Executive Housekeeper must: Lead from the floor and remain connected to the daily operation. Take ownership of departmental results rather than waiting for others to solve problems. Recognize when the team is struggling and step in with direction, resources, coaching, or hands-on assistance. Build relationships based on trust, consistency, accountability, and respect. Communicate proactively with hotel leadership and other departments. Follow through on commitments and ensure established standards are maintained. Remain calm, organized, and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment. Balance compassion for employees with clear performance expectations. Celebrate team successes while addressing concerns before they affect our guests or the operation. Qualifications and Experience Previous experience as an Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, Director of Housekeeping, or comparable hotel housekeeping leader is required. Full-service, lifestyle, luxury, resort, or high-volume hotel experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience building, training, scheduling, and leading a housekeeping team. Strong knowledge of guest-room cleaning, public-area cleaning, laundry operations, sanitation standards, chemical handling, and workplace safety. Experience managing labor, departmental expenses, inventories, linen controls, and supply purchasing. Ability to analyze productivity and departmental reports and implement improvements when needed. Strong inspection skills and exceptional attention to detail. Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through skills. Ability to work effectively with employees from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are preferred but not required. Basic proficiency with email, scheduling, payroll, inventory, and hotel operating systems. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on hotel needs. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform housekeeping-related duties when operational support is needed. Ability to lift and carry supplies, linens, or equipment consistent with the essential responsibilities of the position. Ability to move throughout guest floors, public areas, laundry facilities, and back-of-house spaces during the workday. Why Join Us? This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important hotel department, build a team and culture you can be proud of, and directly influence both the guest experience and the employee experience. If you are a present, accountable, and hands-on leader who believes the strongest housekeeping departments are built through clear standards, teamwork, and consistent support, we would like to hear from you.
