Worker Sub Type Regular Work Shift Pay Range $42.56 - $65.98 Job Description Job Description The Director of Environmental Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all environmental services functions, including housekeeping, infection prevention support, waste management, and linen services at Winchester Medical Center. This role ensures a safe, clean, and compliant environment for patients, visitors, and staff while optimizing operational efficiency, financial performance, and employee engagement. Essential Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develops and executes strategic plans for environmental services aligned with organizational goals and patient safety priorities. Partners with clinical, infection prevention, and facilities leadership to support high-quality care delivery. Leads continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and operational excellence. Operations Management Oversees daily operations of housekeeping, floor care, linen distribution, patient transport, mail room, and waste management services. Ensures appropriate staffing models, scheduling, and productivity standards. Establishes and monitors performance metrics such as cleanliness scores, turnaround times, and room readiness. Infection Prevention & Safety Collaborates with Infection Prevention to ensure compliance with cleaning and disinfection protocols. Implements evidence-based practices for environmental hygiene in healthcare settings. Supports outbreak response, isolation protocols, and emergency preparedness efforts. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, DNV, OSHA, EPA). Maintains policies and procedures for sanitation, hazardous waste handling, and workplace safety. Leads audit readiness, inspections, and quality assurance activities. Financial Management Develops and manages departmental budget, including labor, supplies, and equipment. Monitors financial performance and implements cost-control strategies without compromising quality. Evaluates and manages vendor contracts and service agreements. Customer Experience Promotes a culture of service excellence focused on patient, visitor, and staff experience. Monitors satisfaction scores and addresses service concerns promptly. Ensures responsiveness and effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team. Talent Management Recruits, develops, and retains a high-performing EVS team. Provides leadership development, coaching, and succession planning. Promotes employee engagement, accountability, and a culture of safety.
