Job Description

This will be a 12-month position. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated experience in custodial work preferred. Meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations. This position will involve lifting.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain building security and maintain grounds around your assigned entryways. 2. Cleaning, sweeping, wet and dry mopping floors. 3. Cleaning and restocking of restrooms and restroom fixtures. 4. Cleaning classrooms and offices, vacuuming carpeted areas, dusting furniture and office machines. 5. Cleaning of windows and window sills and removal of debris from the building(s). 6. Responsible for buffing/burnishing, stripping and refinishing of hard surface floors during summer team schedule. 7. Shampooing, spotting and extracting carpet if assigned. 8. Provide emergency cleanup for spills. 9. Responsible for reporting needs for other repairs and maintenance to office personnel. 10. Moves or assists in the moving of heavy furniture, equipment, and objects from room to room, floor to floor, and into or out of buildings if assigned. 11. Performs and/or assists in event or special program set-ups and assists faculty and staff as time permits as directed by supervisor. 12. Shift schedule as determined by the supervisor and the needs of the facility and performs other duties as assigned. 13. Participate successfully in training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment. 14. Participate in cross training activities as required. 15. Assume other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by the custodial immediate supervisor, Superintendent or Superintendent's designee.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Good communications skills. 2. Ability to get along with staff, faculty, and students. 3. Demonstrated aptitude for the successful completion of tasks. 4. Ability to work with minimal supervision. 5. Ability to follow oral and written communications. 6. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, and cleaning equipment. 7. Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all required tasks. 8. Ability to follow required approved health/safety standards and procedures. 9. The employee must have the physical ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. 10. Ability to use and distribute cleaning products and equipment.
EVALUATION
: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
