What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Job Purpose To maintain clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly facility areas. In this position you will have the opportunity to: Clean and sanitize restrooms, toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and fixtures. Clean and maintain employee break rooms, tables, countertops, refrigerators, microwaves, and other common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout assigned areas. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners as needed. Restock toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, and other janitorial supplies. Disinfect high-touch surfaces including door handles, tables, counters, and other frequently used areas. Clean windows, doors, walls, and other facility surfaces as assigned. Perform routine and deep-cleaning duties according to established schedules. Safely use cleaning chemicals, tools, and janitorial equipment in accordance with instructions. Identify and report spills, leaks, maintenance issues, damaged fixtures, and other safety concerns. Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in a clean, organized, and ready-to-use condition. Work independently and complete assigned duties efficiently and thoroughly. Perform other duties as necessary. Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of general cleaning and sanitation practices. Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and janitorial equipment. Good time management and organizational skills. Strong attention to cleanliness and detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations.Education:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Previous janitorial, housekeeping, custodial, or industrial cleaning experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position. Work Environment
- Plant environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- May require working around employees, equipment, cleaning chemicals, and active production areas.
