Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Church Sexton to serve as a custodian for our church facilities. This role serves to maintain a high standard of readiness of church facilities to enable the work and ministry of the congregation and to create a clean and safe place for members, guests, and staff. Duties Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, polish floors/carpets in rooms and hallways and sanctuary. (Office areas to be done by that office staff person's permission.); Strip and wax floors only as needed or requested by Buildings and Grounds or pastor; Shampoo carpet when needed; Dust/polish furniture, windows, blinds, mirrors, vanities, etc.; Set up and breakdown/clean up rooms, including tables, chairs or other items as directed, for church meetings and functions and uses by outside organizations; Clean sidewalks and entrances around the church as needed; Clean and stock all bathrooms and facilities within them; Keep a running inventory of all cleaning supplies and toiletry items and order through the office as needed; Perform other duties as related to janitorial type work; and Inform Pastor and/or a Buildings and Grounds Committee member of needed extra or major maintenance work to be done on the facilities or equipment Qualifications and Required Skills Experience with janitorial duties preferred Flexibility and dependability Successfully pass a criminal background check and complete safe church training Ability to work independently with limited day-to-day guidance or monitoring Ability to communicate both orally and written; read, understand, and follow instructions and schedules Ability to lift, push, pull and move equipment and supplies, up to 50 pounds, as well as climb stairs and ladders. Ability to adhere to a set working schedule.

Pay:

$15.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
