A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Summary:
Perform specified custodial and sanitary duties in designated areas as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Maintain sanitary conditions at Veterans Park Community Center and entry/exit area. 2) Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming. 3) Gather and empty trash and remove litter. 4) Service, clean, and supply restrooms and kitchen. 5) Clean and polish equipment and fixtures. 6) Clean windows and mirrors. 7) Be able to stand for long periods of time, use a small step ladder for windows, move all trash/cardboard boxes to the dumpster, etc. 8) Keep inventory/stock of needed cleaning items and report to supervisor for ordering. 9) Climb ladder to replace basketball nets, update signage, replace some light bulbs if needed. 10) Clean spills and mishaps as they may occur. 11) Work independently and assess situations and take action accordingly. 12) Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Possess and maintain a valid Arkansas Driver's License before and during employment. 2) Previous cleaning experience. 3) Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Needed:
1) Ability to speak effectively and courteously with citizens, business professionals, state and federal officials, and employees of the City & Park's & Rec while developing cooperative and continuing relationships. 2) Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
