Facilities Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented School Custodian to join our facilities team. The custodian will help maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors throughout our school campus. Our campus includes eight buildings . The custodian will be assigned specific areas and buildings based on the daily needs of the school. The position does not require cleaning all eight buildings every day , but the custodian may be asked to assist in other buildings or areas when needed due to special events, staffing needs, emergencies, or other circumstances. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, works well independently, follows safety procedures, and understands the importance of maintaining a clean and safe school environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning, and removing trash. Clean and disinfect restrooms, classrooms, offices, hallways, cafeterias, common areas, and other assigned spaces. Maintain assigned buildings and areas according to established cleaning schedules and school standards. Operate custodial equipment such as floor buffers, automatic floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment as needed. Safely use, store, and handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with manufacturer instructions and school safety procedures. Replenish restroom and custodial supplies as needed. Assist with maintaining clean and orderly entrances, walkways, and other common areas. Perform occasional deep-cleaning and additional cleaning duties as needed. Assist with preparing facilities for school activities, meetings, athletic events, and other special events. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, leaks, or other facility issues to the appropriate supervisor. Assist with minor maintenance tasks, such as basic painting, touch-ups, moving furniture, and other general facility needs as assigned. Safely lift, carry, push, and move cleaning supplies, equipment, furniture, and other materials as required. Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and established custodial practices. Help maintain a secure and safe environment by promptly reporting unusual activity, hazards, or concerns to the appropriate school personnel. Work cooperatively with school administrators, teachers, staff, students, and other members of the school community. Perform other custodial and facility-related duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Previous custodial, janitorial, commercial cleaning, or facilities maintenance experience preferred but not required . Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established cleaning procedures. Ability to safely operate or learn to operate custodial equipment. Ability to properly handle and use cleaning chemicals and follow chemical safety procedures. Ability to perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Ability to safely lift and move supplies, equipment, and furniture as needed. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean and orderly facilities. Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also working effectively as part of a team. Professional and respectful communication skills. Previous experience working in a school or similar institutional environment is a plus. Background Check and References Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and satisfactory verification of professional or employment references. Additional screening or documentation may be required in accordance with applicable school policies and regulations. Work Schedule This is an evening shift position, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM , with occasional schedule adjustments or additional hours as needed for school events, emergencies, or operational needs. Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to perform routine custodial and maintenance-related physical activities, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying supplies or equipment.
