Position Description The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our teams as a Janitor (M&O Maintenance Worker). The purpose of this position is to provide routine cleaning and custodian services throughout City buildings. This may include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors, removing trash, dusting, light maintenance, changing light bulbs, changing air filters, washing windows inside around buildings as well as picking up papers and/or debris. It may also include disinfecting and cleaning restrooms, dusting, polishing, and waxing furniture, emptying trash, washing and cleaning walls, windows, and vents; and, performs related work as assigned Qualifications One year of related experience in assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution highly desired. Work may include weekends and evenings/nights and participating in rotating on-call duties. Physical Demands Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, hazardous materials such as chemicals, oils, and blood and other bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, exposure to the elements, travel across rough, uneven and rocky surfaces and environmental conditions such as disruptive people, imminent danger, and a threatening environment.
