What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Basic knowledge of building and equipment maintenance
Skill In:
Custodial Activities Ability to: Follow oral and written directions Commination skills with supervisor and peers Adjust electrical timers Operate power tools for carpentry and other repair jobs, as well as janitorial equipment, blowers, floor buffer Basic computer skills- checking emails, clocking in and out timeclock. Physical and Environmental Requirements Frequent walking and standing Perform tasks requiting intermittent bending stooping and walking Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 75 pounds Wage Range The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
