Job Description

Summary:
Performs routine custodial, and grounds cleanup including classroom, multi-use rooms, cafeteria, office and related facilities. 5 hours daily, with opportunities to work additional hours, non-school days, and weekends. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs some or all of the following. Sweeps, scrubs, mops, washes, and polishes floors. Washes windows, counters, and walls. Vacuums rugs and carpets. Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork. Cleans dry erase boards and empties pencil sharpeners. Maintains and makes minor repairs to building and fixtures. Reports other repair and maintenance needs and assists in making repairs. Cleans, scrubs and disinfects restrooms. Polishes metal work, cleans sinks, mirrors and other restroom fixtures. Maintains various classroom and restroom supplies including paper towels, soap, toilet paper, and related items. Empties and cleans waste receptacles. Picks up paper. Picks up trash containers and empties into large bins. May move furniture and equipment, set up meeting rooms, classrooms, offices, multiuse, and other facilities for special meetings and events. Turns lights on and off. Unlocks and locks doors and gates. Washes walks and eating areas. Cleans drinking fountains. Check doors, windows and assigned area for vandalism. Reports safety sanitary, and fire hazards. Assists in general grounds upkeep activities, including but not limited to raking leaves and removing debris. Responds to on-demand tasks including clean-up spills, vomit, and other body fluids. Removes snakes, birds, birds' nests and other varmints. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
Qualifications Knowledge and Skills:
Requires a thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in custodial care and routine facilities maintenance. Requires a thorough knowledge of the buildings and grounds of the site. Mush have a full knowledge of work hazards and safe work techniques and procedures. Requires some knowledge of chemical reactions. Abilities Requires the ability to perform the essential duties with limited supervision. Must be able to use and maintain all the tools, equipment, vehicles used during routine performance of duties in good condition. Requires the ability to organize and self-pace projects and tasks. Require the ability and initiative to independently develop methods and techniques in the interest of effectiveness and efficiency. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions, maintain routine records. Must be able to obtain cooperation of and maintain harmonious relations with the employees contacted during routine performance of duties. Requires the ability to work variable schedules to facilitate efficient project completion and special events.
Physical Abilities:
Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk up to 400 yards, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, pushing, pulling and guiding materials over 50 pounds on a regular basis. Climbs (e.g. ladders), stoops, kneels, and crouches on a regular basis. Requires sufficient hand-eye coordination, hand and finger dexterity including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to operate specialized equipment and read technical and safety information. Requires the ability to safely operate motorized and electronic equipment and tools.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED, plus reading and writing skills sufficient to perform duties and read and understand MSDA sheet. Prior custodial experience preferred.
Licenses and Certificates:
A valid driver's licenses First Aide Certification obtained and kept current by employee. TB clearance Live Scan clearance via
DOJ Pay:
$18.47 - $22.50 per hour
