FUNCTION
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, clean and maintain an assigned school facility in a clean, orderly, and secure manner
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

E = Essential Functions
Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and seal floors; vacuum rugs and carpets. E
Dust, wash, and polish furniture and woodwork. E
Empty and clean waste receptacles, including trash barrels. E
Clean restroom, locker room, and shower. E
Wash windows and wall, polish metal work and clean chalkboards. E
Move and arrange furniture and equipment in preparing multipurpose rooms or classrooms for special events or meetings. E
Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walk areas, and the areas adjacent to the school facilities; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to the school buildings. E
Perform special maintenance projects as assigned. E
Perform emergency cleanup service resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling, and illness. E
Assist in maintaining school security and fire safety as assigned; assist in maintaining fire extinguishers. E
Communicate with students, faculty, and the public; provide directions or other information; establish communication according to established guidelines. E
Perform minor maintenance work as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING, EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to: Graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Personality and character suitable to work in schools.
Employment eligibility that may include fingerprints, Tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Basic cleaning methods, procedures, and techniques
Cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment
Safe working methods and procedures
ABILITY TO
Efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment.

Perform simple and repetitive tasks
WORKING CONDITIONS
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work; seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions; exposure to chemicals related to cleaning; working around machinery with moving parts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate assigned tools and equipment; seeing to perform custodial work; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects; standing for extended periods of time; performing heavy physical labor.
