A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

The Janitor is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the department buildings and its grounds. They will be accountable for the completions of assigned duties with minimal supervision. They will interact positively with our members and staff and responds to requests personally or informs the appropriate janitorial staff member.\ ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for cleaning facilities and grounds area which include duties as but not limited to cleaning and restocking restrooms, kitchen areas, sidewalks, and windows Cleans, sweeps, dusts, mops, washes, vacuums, polishes, and waxes floors Collects and disposes of trash from building and grounds Responsible for ensuring checklist is up to date and recorded for assigned area. Unlocks/locks (open/close) all doors at the beginning/end of each shift. Responsible for properly handling various chemicals Performs unskilled maintenance work including- changing clocks, light bulbs, etc. Cleans company car. Moves furniture and equipment. Responsible for reporting incidents and hazardous conditions to Supervisor. Notifies Supervisor when housekeeping supplies need re-ordering. Assist training staff as needed. Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor. 1-2 years' experience and knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment preferred. Ability to do strenuous work. Understanding of the upkeep, care and safe operation of motorized equipment used for cleaning. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents. Janitorial Certification preferred.
LANGUAGE
Ability to read and write in English to follow safety rules and complete NEMS training-Required Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese/ Mandarin) preferred
