Automotive Description At NorthBay Health the Assistant Manager of Environmental Services reports directly to the Manager of Environmental Services and is responsible for overseeing Environmental Services operations, including staff supervision, budgeting, equipment, and resource management. This role ensures that NorthBay Healthcare facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly manner. Responsibilities include coordinating personnel activities such as hiring, training, scheduling, and conducting disciplinary actions. Additionally, this position ensures the availability of adequate supplies and equipment in compliance with standards set by the Infection Control and Value Analysis committees. The manager develops and monitors ES and Linen Quality Assurance indicators for NorthBay Medical Center and VacaValley hospitals, supports regulatory compliance, and performs other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Assist in supervising, training, scheduling, and evaluating EVS staff to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness, infection prevention compliance, and adherence to departmental procedures. Coordinate and oversee cleaning schedules and special projects, such as floor care, waste management, and infection control initiatives. Collaborate with other departments to address service concerns, resolve issues promptly, and ensure a high standard of customer service. Maintain inventory control by monitoring supply levels, ensuring proper storage and usage, and placing orders as needed. Assist with employee performance management, including coaching, mentoring, corrective action, and recognition. Participate in departmental meetings, trainings, and continuous quality improvement activities. Serve as the acting manager in the absence of the EVS Manager, handling operational and staffing decisions as needed. Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission standards, OSHA regulations, and internal hospital policies. Completes and reviews quarterly Q.A. reports for NB and VV. and submits to Director for approval. Organizational standards for Joint Commission, Patient Safety and the Department of Heath will be met or exceeded. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education:
Associate's degree with 2+ years EVS leadership experience in a hospital setting, or 4 years progressively responsible supervisory experience. Licensure Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) is required in 9 months of start in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
Experience :
Three years of progressively responsible management/supervisory experience with two years in environmental services and/or hospital related departments. Knowledge of hospital infection control practices, environmental services policies and procedures, Joint Commission Environment of Care requirements, Cal-OSHA regulations, Title 22 regulations, Hazardous material regulations, ADA and AHJ requirements
Essential Skills:
Proficient in MS Office Suite required; Word and Excel and EVS software systems preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to prepare and deliver executive-level presentations. Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, work independently and is an effective team member.
