OF POSITION
The Substitute Custodian, under the general direction of the Plant Custodian, keeps the assigned school facility, group of buildings, or office space clean and orderly and does related work as required.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Operate the heating system so that the buildings are properly heated. El Water lawns, sweep sidewalks and play areas, pick up papers and other de4bris on and around school area. E Clean and keep in an orderly fashion classrooms, halls, and office areas. E Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and seal floors. E Dust and polish furniture; dust and wash windows, Venetian blinds, walls and woodwork; clean lavatories and restrooms. E Collect waste paper and rubbish. E Make minor non-technical repairs to buildings and equipment. E At the request of principal or plant custodian, see that rooms and/or auditoriums are set up for special events. E Open and close windows, move desks and chairs, carry or move heavy equipment or furniture. E Report needed repair work to plant custodian or school principal. E Assume responsibility for the security of assigned area of the school. Plant. E Read, interpret, and follow written or verbal instructions E Maintain clean and safe work area. E Perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS
Graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed below.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Basic cleaning methods, procedures and techniques. Cleaning materials, supplies and equipment. e Safe working methods and procedures. Efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials, supplies and equipment Understand and carry out oral and written directions Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships Perform simple and repetitive tasks
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Driver's License.

Indoor and outdoor environment; regular exposure to fumes, dust and odors
