Provide support, guidance and training to the District wide custodial program. The primary function will focus on training, employee relations and assisting with day- to-day issues, productivity concerns, and projects that affect the custodial department. Maintain and update a proactive training program which will include all areas of custodial responsibility including cleaning, maintenance, communication, equipment, training, safety. Assist with recruiting, hiring and managing substitute and floater custodians to provide buildings with additional help.SALARY:
Classified Grade T, starting at $27.44 per hour, depending on recent relevant experience. 40 hours per week Monday - Friday, 12 month work schedule paid out over 12 months. Eligible for benefits.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Manage, update and maintain an ongoing training program for the custodial department. Training program will include all areas of custodial responsibility including proper cleaning, methods, supporting District cleaning standards, safety; including aerial work platforms (lift) training. Respond and attend to situations requiring additional training. Maintain training records on all custodial employees including required and voluntary training. Directly train custodial staff at assigned sites. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; and assisting with hiring, appraising performance, and disciplining. Acts as a resource for Custodians by providing training and for school staff by addressing cleaning issues/questions. Assist with recruiting, screening and recommendation for hire custodial employees, including substitutes. Assist buildings with interviewing for regular positions. Assist with maintaininga pool of custodial candidates for advancement to regular positions and for promotions. Assist with communicating with Principals, Athletic Directors, Security, and/or Secretaries to ensure a clean, safe and organized educational atmosphere throughout the school day and during after-hours events. Assist with issues related to building or department concerns, including visiting sites during and after school hours. Coordinate and work with Maintenance Department, fire code inspectors, contractors, insurance inspectors, elevator inspectors, and water and electric meter readers. Take inventory of supplies and equipment, appropriate cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment as necessary within district guidelines. Assist with coordination of the custodial department and program including; review and purchase of equipment and supplies, new product testing and evaluation. Assist with and evaluating custodians; establishing and upholding performance standards. May be responsible for review, approval and verification of reported time in District time and labor system. Schedule, site visits for annual fire inspections, elevator inspections, lead testing, radon testing, BOCES science room hood testing and follow up to ensure all requirements are met. Perform snow removal as needed. Responds to emergency situations as needed.EDUCATION AND WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Colorado driver's license. Must meet District driver insurability requirements. Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical. Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Must be 18 years of age. Specialized courses in OSHA and safety training preferred. Three years (3) of experience in custodial related work. 18 months (18) supervisory experience preferred. Bilingual - fluent English/Spanish, preferred.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EQUIPMENT
Knowledge of and experience with facility maintenance and custodial standards. Knowledge of operation and safety procedures of the following; Floor and carpet maintenance equipment, cleaning, chemicals, building systems, HVAC, fire alarms, intercoms, outdoor equipment such as tractors, snow blowers and various lifts used at the District. Ability to keep up to date technically and apply new knowledge to your job. Includes adapting to and mastering new system applications and process as implemented by the district or department. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education Policies, Superintendants Policies, building and department procedures. Ability to coordinate custodians with Facility Usage Coordinator and school staff to ensure proper scheduling of custodial staff to ensure proper scheduling of custodians when facilities are used by out of District groups. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the work place., follow safety rules, Practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE
Floor and carpet maintenance equipment, cleaning chemicals, building systems, HVAC, fire alarms, intercoms, outdoor equipment and lifts. Operating knowledge of District information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within 2 months of entering the position.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
