What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Description:
JOB SUMMARY
: Assists in the kitchen working with Head cook getting meals ready for meals on wheels and congregate meals. Delivering meals on wheels. Help with clean up in kitchen i.e. dishes, sweeping and moping, clearing tables and any other needs. Cleaning and sanitizing heavy traffic areas. Help with keeping a clean and sanitized building free from obstacles and tripping hazards. Working with elderly clients on a daily basis.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
These are the most significant performance factors involved with this position and they will be the principal factors in which the employee will be evaluated: 1. Assist with meal preparation, and clean up. 2. Delivering meals on wheels to residents and help serve congregate lunches 3. Keeping floors clean and free from hazards to prevent slips and falls 4. Help maintain a clean and organized work area including but not limited to vacuuming, moping, maintain bathrooms, and other cleaning needs. 5. Cleaning and sanitizing after lunch, and activities several times a day. 6. Weekly laundry things such as mop heads, kitchen rags and towels, aprons and any other items needing washed. 7. Assist in creating and joining recreational activities such as games, arts and crafts, and trips planned each week as needed. 8. Greeting and communicating with elderly clients on a daily basis.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 1.
Sensitivity and understanding of elderly persons and their problems, skills in communications, writing, and organization, Helpful and positive attitude, and high performance objectives. 2. Able to work independently with little supervision. 3. Must be physically able to lift 25 pounds. 4. Desire to work with the elderly; general knowledge of geriatric conditions and issues. 5. Ability to work around cleaning chemicals 6. Familiarity with the Southern Ute Indian Reservation and the Ignacio Community; preference will be given to a qualified local resident. 7. Must be able to work well with associates and the public; work references will be required. 8. Must have reliable transportation, valid CO driver's license and be insurable by SOCOCAA insurance carrier. 9. Must have demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner. 10. Must obtain CPR/First Aid and Food handler's certifications within 45 days of hire 11. Must pass the criminal history background check. 12. Must pass Drug Test and Randoms.
