The Porter plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position supports housekeeping, maintenance, and facility operations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety are met. Responsibilities Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas throughout the facility. Cleans bowls, sink walls, exposed pipes, and other facility fixtures. Washes floors and other areas as needed to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Keeps storage closets and supply areas in good order and secured at all times. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed. Requests supplies as necessary and ensures materials are maintained in adequate supply and properly labeled containers. Assists in maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Operations Supervisor. Qualifications Preferably a high school graduate or equivalent. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, and facility staff Ability to observe proper safety and sanitary techniques. Ability to work scheduled hours based on the needs and requirements of the position. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday and use proper body mechanics, including bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and reaching above the shoulders. Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional, and physical stress of the position. Must be able to see and hear to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must be able to function independently and demonstrate flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, support agencies, and outside agencies. Must be in good health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile individuals within the facility. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Must have finger, hand, leg, and arm dexterity.
