Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Substitute Custodian to join our facilities maintenance team. In this vital role, you will ensure that our school or facility remains clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemical agents. Operate cleaning machinery such as floor buffers, vacuums, and industrial cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Follow all safety protocols related to chemical handling procedures and manual handling to prevent accidents or injuries. Maintain proper use of custodial supplies and report inventory needs or safety hazards promptly. Support the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the facility while adhering to health standards and safety regulations. Experience Prior custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided. Experience with chemical agent handling safety procedures is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely in accordance with safe lifting practices. Customer service skills are important for interacting professionally with staff and visitors when needed. Previous experience in industrial cleaning or facilities maintenance will be considered an asset.
