What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

  • This is a Per Diem (as needed) position. There is no guarantee of hours.
  • What to expect as a Custodian at
Saint Mary Home:
  • The Custodian ensures a clean and safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff by performing a variety of housekeeping and maintenance duties. This role includes cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and facility grounds, while adhering to all safety, infection control, and operational guidelines.
  • Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • + Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation standards.

+ Ability to operate and maintain housekeeping equipment safely and effectively.

+ Physical stamina to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift (up to 60 lbs) frequently.

+ Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.

+ Good communication skills and ability to interact courteously with residents, staff, and visitors.

+ Flexibility to handle multiple responsibilities and respond to changing priorities.

+ Knowledge of safety procedures, infection control practices, and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
