A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Summary The janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition of duties that involve a combination of the following: Sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms Primary Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review. Responsible for the overall care of the building and the grounds and following proper cleaning procedures. Vacuum, dust, sweep, mop, empty trash) around the different areas of the building on a daily basis. Use various equipment utilized in the process of daily housekeeping tasks, such as operate floor buffer machine and scrubber machine to clean rugs around the building. Clean glass of all doorways and entrances to offices. Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after cleaning offices. Additional Responsibilities Notify management of need for repairs when necessary. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
