A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Position Summary :
St. Andrew's School is seeking a full-time facilities care technician based on a 40-hour work week, year-round with extra hours on a periodic basis. Actual hours will be assigned based on the needs of the department. Some weekend and special event coverage may be required. Employees in this position are eligible for overtime payment. This is a critical member of our community who works to ensure the cleanliness, health, safety, and aesthetics of the campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Perform institutional and residential duties that include a variety of cleaning tasks such as, cleaning/sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning screens and windows, gathering and removing trash, sweeping, mopping floors, and changing bed linens. Working independently or assist other facilities care technicians as assigned. Assist with setting up for special events, which includes moving tables, chairs, and furniture. Perform cleaning in dorms and faculty apartments and houses, including cleaning refrigerators, ovens, shampooing carpets, and scrubbing tubs and showers.
Job Requirements :
High school diploma or GED required. Possession of a current, valid driver's license. Self-motivated, ability to follow directions and work with little to no supervision. Ability to work well with others as a team player; a pleasant personality is essential. Ability to operate cleaning machines. Prior housekeeping experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Requires physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling objects over 40 pounds. Ability to withstand sustained stooping, bending, and lifting and to climb and work on ladders.
