Veterinary Medical Janitor — is that you? St. Charles Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Medical Janitor to join our team. We are an AAHA-accredited, General Practice and Emergency mixed-animal hospital located in Central Florida. As a 24-hour veterinary hospital , we provide care for a wide variety of species, including dogs, cats, birds, exotics, and wildlife. While veterinary experience is not required , previous janitorial, housekeeping, medical, or commercial cleaning experience is preferred. We will provide training on veterinary-specific cleaning protocols, infection control, and hospital sanitation procedures. We are looking for dependable individuals who share our commitment to providing exceptional patient care through a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Our hospital features a complete in-house diagnostic laboratory, digital radiography, CT imaging, laser surgery, F.A.S.T. Scan, Companion Laser, and many other advanced medical technologies. Maintaining a clean and sanitized facility is an essential part of delivering the high standard of care our patients deserve. Salary is based on experience, with additional compensation for working emergency shifts and weekend pay differentials. Veterinary Medical Janitor Responsibilities Clean and disinfect exam rooms, treatment areas, surgery suites, ICU, kennels, and common areas. Follow hospital infection control and biosecurity protocols. Properly dispose of medical, biological, and general waste. Clean and sanitize animal housing, cages, runs, and litter areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize all hospital floors and surfaces. Perform laundry duties, including washing and folding hospital bedding and towels. Restock paper products, hand sanitizer, soap, and cleaning supplies throughout the hospital. Maintain clean restrooms, lobby areas, offices, break rooms, and staff areas. Assist with deep-cleaning projects and routine facility maintenance. Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance throughout the hospital.
Qualifications:
Previous janitorial, housekeeping, custodial, environmental services, or commercial cleaning experience preferred . Veterinary experience is not required —we are happy to train the right candidate. Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. Self-motivated and proactive. Friendly demeanor and positive attitude. Must be dependable, punctual, and a team player. Comfortable working around animals of all species. Comfortable cleaning bodily fluids, animal waste, and medical treatment areas. Basic computer knowledge is helpful but not required. Must be able to work weekends and some holidays. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods.
