I. OVERVIEW

The Custodian plays an important role in supporting the mission of Redeemer Lutheran Church and School. Through dependable service and faithful stewardship of our facilities, this position helps provide a clean, safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for students to learn, families to connect, and our congregation to worship and serve.

II. JOB SUMMARY

The Custodian performs routine custodial and cleaning duties under the direction of the. This position requires someone who will take pride in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and will demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude when serving students, staff, families, congregation members, and visitors.

III. CORE RESPONSIBILITIESA.

Essential Duties Clean and maintain assigned classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, common areas, worship spaces, and other facilities. Sweep, vacuum, dust, mop, and sanitize floors and surfaces. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, including desks, tables, door handles, light switches, and other high-contact areas. Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, floors, and fixtures. Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly. Clean entryways, doors, glass, windows, and other assigned areas. Restock restroom and custodial supplies as needed. Maintain clean and organized custodial closets and storage areas. Follow daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedules. Assist with routine deep-cleaning projects as assigned. Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, spills, leaks, safety hazards, or other facility issues to the EDO. Assist with preparing rooms and facilities for church services, school activities, meetings, special events, and other campus activities. Assist with the setup, movement, and breakdown of tables, chairs, equipment, and rooms for worship services, school activities, meetings, athletic events, and special events. Assist with setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and other equipment as directed. Help maintain cleanliness around building entrances, sidewalks, and other assigned outdoor areas. Maintain sidewalks, parking areas, playgrounds, athletic areas, landscaping, and other exterior areas. Perform general groundskeeping, including trimming, blowing, weeding, debris removal, and seasonal cleanup. Properly use and care for vacuums, mops, cleaning equipment, and other custodial tools. Follow instructions for the safe use, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and supplies. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Respond promptly to spills and other routine custodial needs. Assist other custodial and maintenance staff when needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. B. General Cleaning Duties The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining assigned areas according to established cleaning standards, including: Dusting and wiping surfaces. Vacuuming carpets and rugs. Sweeping and mopping hard floors. Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms. Removing trash and recycling. Cleaning interior glass and entry areas. Cleaning furniture and fixtures. Replenishing supplies. Keeping assigned areas neat and presentable.

IV. QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or related experience. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to learn proper cleaning and sanitation procedures. Ability to safely use basic custodial equipment and supplies. Dependable, punctual, and responsible. Good attention to detail. Ability to work independently while following established procedures. Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team. Professional and courteous manner when interacting with students, staff, parents, church members, and visitors. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate judgment. Willingness to support the mission and values of Redeemer Lutheran Church and School. V. Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs. Lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning supplies and equipment. Move trash containers, tables, chairs, and other items as needed. Safely operate vacuums, mops, carts, and other custodial equipment. Perform repetitive cleaning tasks. Work indoors and outdoors when required. Work around cleaning chemicals while following established safety procedures. VI. School Safety Requirements Because this position serves a school campus and may involve regular contact with students, employment is contingent upon completion of all required background checks, screenings, and other safety requirements established by Redeemer Lutheran Church and School. The Custodian is expected to follow all school policies and procedures related to student safety, professional conduct, confidentiality, and appropriate interaction with students. VII. Work Schedule Monday-Friday, includes evenings and occasional weekends as needed for church services, school activities, special events, or emergency situations.

Pay:

$19.00 - $21.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
