A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Essential duties Daily cleaning (Monday to Friday): restroom cleaning and sanitation, trash and recycling removal, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and breakroom and kitchen cleaning (PWS 6.1). Weekly, monthly, and semi-annual tasks: detail cleaning, high dusting above 7 feet, machine scrubbing, and floor strip, wax, and refinish (PWS 6.2 to 6.4). Restock restroom consumables; police entrances, lobbies, and corridors. Operate vacuums, floor machines, and extractors safely; use chemicals per label and safety data sheets. Follow all conduct, safety, and security requirements; wear the company uniform and badge; do not touch or disturb Government materials.
