They are known to respect a traditional work week and often extend contracts for added job security and stability Position Overview The Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and facility environment. This role performs routine cleaning, basic facility maintenance, waste management, and sanitation tasks to support daily warehouse operations while adhering to safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Sweep, mop, scrub, and clean warehouse floors, aisles, storage areas, and workspaces. Empty trash and recycling containers and maintain designated waste disposal areas. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, sweepers, and trash compactors as required. Clean spills promptly and safely, including damaged products, following company safety and quality procedures. Assist with the inspection and cleanup of warehouse storage locations on a scheduled basis. Perform basic facility maintenance tasks, including replacing light bulbs and identifying maintenance concerns such as leaks or ice buildup. Collect and dispose of recyclable materials, cardboard, plastic wrap, and other waste materials. Clean common areas, including offices, break rooms, restrooms, and other shared spaces. Maintain exterior facility grounds, loading dock areas, and dumpster locations. Complete cleaning logs, maintenance records, and incident reports as required. Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify management when replenishment is needed. Operate warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks, floor scrubbers, and other authorized equipment, in accordance with safety guidelines. Follow all workplace safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous custodial, janitorial, warehouse sanitation, or facilities maintenance experience preferred. Ability to read and understand work instructions and complete basic documentation. Basic math skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, floor scrubbers, sweepers, or similar equipment is preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, and grasp objects. Occasionally operate powered warehouse equipment. Ability to push and pull carts, pallet jacks, and cleaning equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and around moving equipment. Work Environment This position is performed in a warehouse environment and may require exposure to dust, noise, varying temperatures, and powered industrial equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
