Purpose:
To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment in which to learn, play, and develop. He/she shall take pride in keeping the buildings and grounds safe, clean, and attractive for all occupants and visitors. Reports to: Director of Buildings and Grounds
Requirements:
Demonstrated aptitude for the successful completion of tasks Experience with school custodial services or the equivalent in custodial service in other institutions and/or firms Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician Physical capability to performing tasks involving: kneeling, bending, or twisting of the body; keeping or regaining balance; making repetitive motions; standing, often for extended periods of time; using your hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; lifting objects, some weighing as much as 50-75 pounds High school diploma preferred but not required
Responsibilities:
Completes tasks as assigned both inside the buildings and out to ensure that buildings and premises are neat and clean and school operations can run in an efficient and safe manner. These tasks include but are not limited to the following: Sweeping, mopping, cleaning, and dusting Washing windows Mowing and weed eating Painting Clearing snow Preparing for special events Performing general repairs Opening or locking doors Moving furniture or equipment as required for various activities Raising or lowering the flags Works collaboratively with the administration and director of building and grounds on assignments. Assists in receiving supplies and maintaining inventories. Disposes of equipment through administrative approval and per Iowa Code. Follows a schedule to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner. Promptly reports any necessary major building repairs or property damage to the Director of Maintenance, Buildings and Grounds. Remains on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and your attendance is required Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and waste materials Demonstrates self-motivation, a strong work ethic, teamwork, and a positive attitude. Completes training as assigned and as required by law. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hours:
2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Hourly wage and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated on a regular basis in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.
