Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Full-Time Day Elementary Custodian to join our facilities maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our premises remain clean, safe, and welcoming for staff, visitors, and clients alike. Duties Perform comprehensive cleaning duties across all areas of the facility, including floors, restrooms, offices, and common spaces using commercial cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and vacuums. Handle chemical agents safely by following proper chemical handling safety procedures to ensure effective sanitation without risk to health or safety. Conduct routine janitorial tasks including trash removal, dusting, window cleaning, and surface disinfecting to maintain a pristine environment. Operate cleaning machinery such as floor buffers and scrubbers with attention to safe lifting practices and proper manual handling techniques. Maintain facilities by performing minor repairs like painting touch-ups or light maintenance tasks to support overall building upkeep. Follow safety protocols diligently during all custodial activities to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Assist with heavy lifting tasks related to cleaning supplies or equipment movement while adhering to safe lifting practices. Support overall facilities maintenance efforts by coordinating with other departments for repairs or additional cleaning needs as required. Experience Proven custodial or janitorial experience in commercial or industrial settings is essential. Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and other custodial tools is highly preferred. Knowledge of chemical agent handling safety procedures to ensure safe use of cleaning products. Experience with sanitation standards and best practices in maintaining cleanliness across various environments. Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting while following safe lifting practices. Prior experience in facilities maintenance or Porter roles is advantageous. Strong customer service skills to interact professionally with staff and visitors when needed.
