This role performs routine custodial and sanitation work throughout classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces; supports room and event setups; and assists with basic facility-care needs in accordance with established procedures and safety standards. Work is performed in an active school environment and may include frequent standing and walking, lifting, and moving supplies or furniture, use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, work indoors and outdoors, and occasional exposure to noise, dust, weather, or bodily fluids. Scope of Role N/A Essential Roles & Responsibilities include but not limited to: Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and disinfect classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, common areas, small kitchen or break areas, and other assigned spaces using approved procedures and products Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, spot-clean, wash interior glass, and perform other routine cleaning tasks to maintain a neat and sanitary environment Empty trash and recycling; replace liners; and move collected materials to designated disposal or recycling locations Clean and restock restrooms and dispensers, including soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, and other assigned supplies Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and other cleaning needs, including appropriate cleanup of bodily fluids in accordance with school procedures and required personal protective equipment Use custodial chemicals, tools, and equipment safely and according to labels, training, and manufacturer instructions Safety, Security & Compliance Follow school safety procedures and all applicable health, chemical-handling, equipment-use, and personal protective equipment requirements Maintain secure work practices, including ensuring assigned doors and access points remain locked or secured as directed after duties are completed Keep custodial closets, carts, chemicals, tools, and equipment organized and secured from unauthorized student access Use caution when working around students and school activities; place wet-floor signs or other safety barriers when needed Follow emergency procedures and immediately report injuries, unsafe conditions, security concerns, or other urgent facility issues to the appropriate supervisor or school leader Professional Responsibilities & Communication Report to work reliably and on time, complete assigned task lists, and communicate progress or barriers to the supervisor Follow written and verbal directions, cleaning schedules, and established building services procedures Work cooperatively with other school employees; respond to requests with professionalism and a service-oriented approach Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality when working in classrooms, offices, and other areas where student or employee information may be present Identify opportunities to improve cleaning, safety, efficiency, organization, or service and share appropriate suggestions with the supervisor Participate in required safety, equipment, chemical-handling, and school-specific training Spiritual Formation Model Christian values through dependable service, humility, respect, integrity, and care for students, families, coworkers, and guests Support a Christ-centered school environment through conduct and interactions consistent with the school's mission and expectations Demonstrate a personal commitment through active participation in a local Bible-based church Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required Basic knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, sanitation practices, and safe use of common cleaning products and equipment Ability to understand and follow task lists, labels, safety instructions, written procedures, and verbal directions Ability to use cleaning chemicals appropriately and follow required safety measures, including personal protective equipment and hazard communication procedures Ability to work independently, manage assigned tasks, and adjust to changing school priorities and schedules Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and communicate respectfully and professionally with school employees and guests Strong attention to detail, dependability, punctuality, flexibility, and commitment to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb stairs, and perform repetitive cleaning motions; lift and carry up to 25 pounds and push or pull up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to work indoors and outdoors and to safely operate routine custodial tools and equipment for which training has been provided
