MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Illinois Driver's license and ability to travel within district. Prior school custodian experience preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for cleaning, securing the building, and seasonal grounds duties. Responsible for on-going maintenance and minor repair of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and custodial equipment. Ability to read/interpret safety rules, operating manuals, maintenance instructions. Ability to work occasionally during non-scheduled work hours. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Set work priorities and work independently. Meet schedules and deadlines. Develop and maintain effective working relationships, work cooperatively with others. Maintain records related to work practices and projects. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Custodial Supervisor.
PAY AND BENEFITS
$17.50/hour. The District can provide additional credit to candidates who have prior work experience. Full health insurance program with major medical. Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF Pension). Paid time off.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day. Typically including strenuous and considerable physical exertion involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to work on ladders of varying heights. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions.
