12 weeksExpected Shift:
40 hrs/week Full-Time | 1st Shift | 6:00 AM- 2:30 PM Every other weekend required Holiday rotation required
JOB SUMMARY IMPORTANT CALL OUTS
- 12-week Temp-to-Hire opportunity.
- Candidates MUST be interested in permanent employment.
- Manager is willing to train candidates with transferable custodial, housekeeping, or janitorial experience.
- Flexible schedule required, including weekends and holiday rotation.
- Opportunity to evaluate the role before transitioning to permanent employment.
- Interviews will take place on-site with management team
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous Environmental Services, housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience required.
- Healthcare experience welcomed but not required.
- Hospital-specific EVS processes and workflows will be taught during training.
CERTIFICATIONS
- None required.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to follow infection prevention and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Strong attendance and reliability.
- Desire to work and learn.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to approximately 35 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push/pull equipment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, offices, public areas, and clinical spaces.
- Follow infection prevention and environmental cleaning protocols.
- Collect and dispose of regular and biohazardous waste.
- Transport and collect soiled linen.
- Restock supplies in assigned areas.
- Operate housekeeping equipment and cleaning tools safely.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Follow all IU Health and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other Environmental Services duties as assigned.
