A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy facility by completing various tasks, including trash removal, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces, breakrooms, and restrooms in a safe manner. Essential Job Duties Clean and sanitize the interior of buildings including restrooms, floors, carpet, rugs, walls, windows, and doors. Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools, and phones. Maintain cleaning inventory, requesting orders for new products, when needed. Empty trash and recycling bins daily. Remove debris from sidewalks. Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions. Use and wear PPE. Assume other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Not responsible for supervising employees. Minimum Requirements Education & Experience High School Diploma/GED. 0+ years of experience required. Preferred Requirements No Preferred Education Required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic computer skills. Basic messages communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records. Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive, and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures. Decisions generally affect own job or assigned functional area. Results are defined and existing practices are used as guidelines for how to complete work activities; works closely with supervisor/manager who provides broad guidance and overall direction. Prioritize assigned and routine tasks. Handle appropriately. No additional competencies required. Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods of time. The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels. Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. On occasion an employee may be asked to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
