Job Description

Courthouse Custodian Work schedule: Full-time 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
M-F Primary duties include:
Assists with issues that arise at other County owned facilities as assigned. Performs extra projects as required. Maintains cleanliness of Courthouse, including sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors, dusting, cleaning windows and doors, and emptying trash containers. Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, including sweeping/mopping floors, and cleaning toilets, sinks and mirrors. Clears clogged drains, replaces worn fixtures, and restocks soap and paper supplies. Completes basic maintenance duties, including minor electrical and plumbing repairs, painting and changing air filters. Notifies supervisor of major building repairs and/or maintenance needs. Maintains steps and walkways of Courthouse grounds, including performing landscaping, pick up trash, clearing snow and ice. Operates a variety of tools and equipment in performance of duties, including, but not limited to, screw drivers, wrenches, shovel, snow blower, vacuum, mop, and broom.
Skills and knowledge:
Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of Department safety policies and procedures and basic janitorial and sanitation requirements for assigned areas of responsibility. Ability to physically perform custodial duties, including standing, walking, moderate to heavy lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling objects, reaching, bending, crouching/kneeling, climbing ladders, and handling/grasping objects. Must be able to lift/carry, push/pull objects weighing 50 lbs. Must be able to read and understand equipment manuals and instructions for use of various chemicals. Must be dependable.
