Job Description

Description Job Summary:
The Environmental Service Attendant may work in any location on client premises. This individual serves as the Environmental Services Attendant and cleans and keeps in an orderly condition facilities or locations in the areas of the hospital or clinics. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on the hospital necessities.
General Responsibilities:
Clean patient rooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, common areas, and other hospital/clinic spaces. Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and polish floors. Clean things like walls, windows, vents, furniture, mattresses, and light fixtures. Empty trash and replace/replenish supplies. Sometimes change bed sheets and handle linens. Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to hospital safety rules. Potentially use specialized equipment for infection control. Report broken equipment or maintenance problems. Follow safety procedures and attend required training.
Physical Demands:
Standing/walking for most or all of an 8-hour shift. Bending and reaching frequently. Pushing and pulling cleaning equipment. Lifting up to 35 lbs frequently. Occasionally lifting/moving 40 lbs. Using floor machines and other mechanical equipment.
Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience. 6 months or more years of related work experience. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to properly and safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment. Knowledge of basic cleaning and disinfecting procedures preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and cleanliness. Dependable and punctual with good attendance. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, patients, residents, and visitors.
