RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. High School Diploma or Accredited GED 2. Demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities. 3. Must be able to perform heavy physical labor such as lifting garbage bags that weigh 50 pounds. 4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Head Custodian/Principal To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop. 1. Cleans and maintains all boilers and other major equipment. 2. Supervises and participates in necessary painting and general repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general mechanical areas. 3. Replaces broken windows. 4. Assists general mechanics in remodeling and renovation work. 5. Generally supervises and maintains the school grounds. 6. Assists in snow removal. 7. Supervises and participates in the general cleaning and maintenance of the school building. 8. Requisitions and receives supplies and equipment and maintains necessary inventories. 9. Assumes responsibility for the general security of the building. 10. Assumes responsibility for the general safety of the building. 11. Makes building repairs that he/she is capable of. 12. Reports immediately to the principal any damage of school property. 13. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off. 14. Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand, and requisition such needed replacements from the principal far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodian in his duties. 15. Conducts an on-going program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair. 16. Performs emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary. 17. Completes all tasks in shortest possible time. 18. Performs other duties that may be assigned.
