A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

CUSTODIAN JOB SUMMARY
The custodian is responsible for the overall cleanliness and attractiveness of the clinic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleans and dusts desks, tables, chairs, counters, etc. Mops, buffs, or vacuums portions of clinic floors. Responsible for cleaning kitchen area. Maintains clean restrooms and assures the availability of soap, towels, tissue, etc. Assumes stock control for supplies. Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies. Responsible for the appearance of the center grounds. Sanitizes all exam rooms, lab, x-ray, etc. Simple maintenance as assigned by supervisor. Adheres to the terms and conditions set forth in BSHC's corporate compliance program. Ensures confidential information in accordance with BSHC's policy and current HIPAA regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED. Experience in janitorial work preferred. Ability to follow instructions, operate cleaning equipment and keep a supply inventory.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Requires physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds. Moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, and/or unpleasant odors.
