By joining our Department of Highways D10 / Magoffin County Maintenance as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Magoffin County; you'll have the opportunity to operate basic automotive and power equipment including, but not limited to, bush hogs, chainsaws, chemical sprayers, chippers, jack hammers, mowing tractors, single axle trucks (dump, flatbed, pickup), snow plows, salt spreaders, broom sweepers and weed trimmers. Assists with beginning level engineering related tasks. Holders of the Highway Technician Assistant I position will complete tasks such as: Operate small single axel dump trucks Flag traffic for highway crews Assist in brush cutting and controlling operations around structures and highways Perform minor repairs and maintenance work on equipment Operate dump truck with snow plow and salt spreader Ideal Candidate will have experience in: Driving licensed vehicles Lifting up to 50 pounds Communication skills Flexible due to possible change in work shift or hours

(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees in this classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license.
