Level II Schedule 2 MPSD Pay Scale; Based on verified years of relevant work experience in the fieldWORK SCHEDULE
The selected candidate must be available and willing to work an evening shift from 1:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Specific work hours will be discussed during the interview process and may be adjusted based on the operational needs of the school and the district. Flexibility in scheduling may be required to support district priorities and student needs.APPLICATION PERIOD

JOB SUMMARY
Morehouse Elementary School is seeking a dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented School Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is a responsible self-starter who takes pride in their work, demonstrates initiative, manages time effectively, and performs assigned duties with minimal supervision. This position requires a strong work ethic, reliability, sound judgment, and the ability to independently identify and address custodial needs while adhering to district policies, safety standards, and established procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other assigned areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste appropriately. Replenish restroom and custodial supplies as needed. Clean windows, doors, walls, and fixtures. Assist with setting up and breaking down facilities for special events, meetings, and school activities. Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, vandalism, or security issues to the appropriate supervisor. Ensure school buildings and grounds are maintained in a safe, orderly, and presentable condition. Follow all district safety procedures, cleaning protocols, and security requirements. Operate custodial equipment and cleaning tools safely and effectively. Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, maintenance, or related experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks with limited supervision.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of prioritizing daily responsibilities effectively.
- Strong sense of personal accountability, responsibility, and ownership of assigned work areas.
- Proven ability to identify cleaning, maintenance, and safety concerns and take appropriate action or report issues promptly.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and consistent work performance.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality, and represent the district in a professional manner.
