Service and Janitorial Supervisor Employment Type:
Full Time Position Overview Urban Property Management is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Janitorial Team Member to join our property management team. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of residential condominium buildings and common areas throughout Boston. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is dependable and punctual, works well independently and as part of a team, and understands that the quality of the building's common areas reflects directly on our company and the properties we manage. Key Responsibilities Cleaning & Building Maintenance Clean and maintain residential building common areas, including: Lobbies and entrances Hallways and stairwells Elevators Common rooms and amenity spaces Laundry rooms Trash and recycling areas Basement and storage areas Exterior entrances and immediate surrounding areas Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, wipe down, and disinfect surfaces as appropriate. Clean glass, mirrors, doors, fixtures, and other visible surfaces. Remove trash and recycling and maintain clean, orderly trash areas. Monitor common areas for cleanliness and address issues promptly. Replenish building supplies such as paper products, soap, and cleaning supplies as needed. Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance tasks within the scope of the position. Report maintenance issues, damage, leaks, safety concerns, or other building problems to management promptly. Property Standards Maintain a consistently high standard of cleanliness and presentation. Pay close attention to detail, including corners, edges, baseboards, entryways, elevator tracks, and other frequently overlooked areas. Follow established cleaning schedules and building-specific procedures. Use cleaning products and equipment safely and appropriately. Maintain cleaning equipment and notify management when supplies or equipment need to be replaced or repaired. Respect residents' privacy, property, and personal belongings at all times. Communication & Teamwork Communicate professionally with residents, property managers, vendors, and coworkers. Follow daily assignments and instructions from supervisors. Work cooperatively with other members of the janitorial and maintenance teams. Notify management promptly of any unusual condition, resident concern, or property issue. Complete required documentation, checklists, or work records accurately. Qualifications Previous janitorial, housekeeping, custodial, building maintenance, or similar experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Professional and respectful demeanor when interacting with residents and coworkers. Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning supplies and equipment. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical cleaning tasks throughout the workday. Ability to safely use common cleaning chemicals and equipment. Valid driver's license preferred if the position requires travel between properties.
